    Smoker & Company is a successful, busy CPA firm with multiple office locations in Lancaster and Berks County.  Smoker & Company and its related Family of Companies provides business services spanning various client needs such as bookkeeping, payroll, legal services, consulting, wealth management, property management, and insurance (among others).

     

    Our mission is to meet the total accounting, tax, and business development needs of our clients in order to enhance the value of the business and individuals we are privileged to serve. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support client needs and supervise both permanent and seasonal staff, particularly during Tax Season.

    Working under minimal to no direct supervision, the Senior Accountant will help to ensure that clients’ needs are being met efficiently and within quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Reviewing and preparing of tax returns and related tax workpapers
    • Providing assistance in training staff accountants, seasonal tax preparers, and interns
    • Communicating with clients regarding their tax records and tax returns
    • Providing solutions for client needs
    • Applying tax laws to benefit our clients and minimize their tax obligations
    • Additional accounting projects as dictated by business needs

    Qualifications

     

    • Proficient working knowledge of technical areas relating to income tax, payroll, software programs, and financial statements
    • Ability to maintain current knowledge of tax law changes in all relevant jurisdictions
    • Strong professional ethics / integrity / reliability
    • Dedication to providing and ensuring exceptional client services
    • Dedication to training and mentoring growth of Junior Accountants
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with clients and team members
    • Willingness to expand skills and adaptable to change
    • Advanced understanding of taxes
    • The ability to train and supervise a team of Junior and Staff accountants
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills
    • A minimum of three years of directly-relevant experience
    • Must have prepared tax returns during tax season in the last four years
    • CPA or Enrolled Agent license is a plus!

     

    We offer a base salary depending on relevant experience in addition to benefits as well as performance-based bonuses.
